it consumes about 10x less energy to walk than it does to drive

assuming 100cal/mi walking, 30000cal/gallon of gas, and a 30mpg rated car
and for many folks, they're more efficient per mile and cars less so.. the actual figure is probably 12-15x in a lot of cases..

huh, it occurs to me that the plants are usually quite well awake by this time of year..
most all the trees, excluding cherry, still seem to be in winter mode though, not to mention the groundcover
