@aurelia woahh, your setup is certainly a bit more fancy than my own... docker/kubernetes always felt like something of a dark art to me
but, yeah! i'll be sure to ask if i've got questions that might have some overlap
suppose i've got one for you now: what kind of resource usage were you looking at per instance? i know that mastodon and gotosocial are vastly different beasts in that regard, but even ballpark figures will let me plan a bit better :3

been working on a project this week :3

if you've got any suggestions, or like, i've got big ol' security holes, i'm more than happy to hear you out
still working on synchronizing all the documentation and webpages and such, but, it's ready to go for whoever may be interested, server management is just a bit manual for the moment
(and like, it's not just fedi hosting, static websites work too! dynamic (non-gotosocial) sites should be possible, but it's a fair bit more overhead to make happen...)

biggest todos with this right now are to find or implement an interface that allows web-based service management and execution of some shell scripts and server file management of some description... getting that done would make the only administration on my part be setup :3

@Paradox ayo? it most certainly is food, and depending on how it's made, it's a main dish
i'd say it's quite a near cousin of shepherd's pie

(also, wtf shepherd is spelled like that? i thought it was shepard...)

it would've been debian, but it lacks nginx-mod-http-acme
which... kinda important for shared hosting things

aah, keep overthinking faster than i can properly think things through
arch it is
it's plenty stable for when you're not doing desktop type things

@wyatt @xyla oh, geez, these are really good
i'll be keeping pastefish.trade in mind should i decide to make a pastebin service, but like, i've already got half a dozen domains that i've barely got uses for...

ooo, postfi.sh, that's not half bad either, but seems that .sh is in the more pricy class of domains :/

@wyatt @xyla shit, that's actually a really good domain hack, one that i should've known, running tide.st
checking in on it, it's in the cheaper class of domains, miiight pick it up if it sticks in my head a bit
problem being that the only use i could think of for it is a 301 to fishpost.trade...

also, i'm the admin/owner of fishpost.trade :p
the name is a munging of the drum and bass series of posts, and the shitpost.trade modifications (i.e. gitpost.trade, sitpost.trade and so on)

@aurelia but i have seen a fair part of deep space 9, and like, if the writing is better with babylon 5, then i'm all for it
star trek would be a bit too cheesy for my tastes if it wasn't for the superb writing

@livtargz yep, that sounds familiar 🤙
rocking a m2 macbook air myself for my daily, only thing it chokes on is ram bound stuff, 8GiB just isn't enough... 16 miiight just get me by for most tasks, but 32 would certainly be best... encoding high resolution jxl is just so ram hungry

@aurelia admittedly, no
but if it shared any of the writers, producers, and so on, it's bound to have at least a little bit going for it?

@aurelia all star trek is good star trek
even the bottom of the barrel for the series is still better than lots of shows put out today
