i think while over land it was using air to ground though, when we got out over the ocean, data speeds definitely dropped and latency seems to have jumped up, based on feel

ok, so that's really cool!
basically two options for it, satellite communications (crazy to me that transmission can work with the speeds involved)
and air to ground, which i hadn't heard of before, but basically the airplane hooks into the plain old cell phone network, if i'm understanding correctly

cool stuff!
