9/11, pol(?) @dfxluna i think it's less so actual celebration than it is parody or mockery
like, it's been 25 years, a quarter century.. pretty sure no other terror attack has been shoved down people's throats for as long and intensely as this one
i think lots of folks are just sick of it being brought up yearly as something to be sad about, especially younger folks, like myself, that don’t even remember the event
and for those that do remember it, they likely also remember how much more free they were before, and how it was used as an excuse to ramp surveillance and control to the levels we have today

are you aware of the 2137 thing polish folks have? it's a similar deal as i understand.. folks being seriously sick and tired of being told they should be sad

is it all a bit insensitive, immature and disrespectful? yep
is it still a decent bit of fun? imo, yeah
is full on celebration perhaps a bit.. much? yeah, but also like, you do you boo.. who am i to interrupt if someone's just having fun

honestly, if i was killed in a terror attack, i'd want folks to let it go and celebrate life rather than mourn for a quarter century (actually when i eventually die of any cause, i'd want that to be the case)
i would want folks to make fun of the event, give less power to the terrorists that performed it.. fear and sadness are exactly what they want

but, i suppose that's just the way i see it /shrugs/
