@prettygood chances are, you'll be ok... the majority of folks are alright from what i've noticed... the bad ones tend to out themselves in some way pretty quick.. not to say abandon all caution, it's just a lot better out there than many make it out to be...

my trip to europe for example, far more insane... any number of bad things could have happened, especially with what i did and who i met, but it turned out alright, actually some of the best times i've had in years... best wishes that your adventure turns out good too ^^
