as for why monoamory seems to be the standard?
it's a bit of a guess, but social entrainment is probably a big factor, the big economic/political nono of polygamy...

it's a bit of a rabbit hole into the whys of it all tbh and like, it's hard to peer into the mind of monoamorous folks being polyamorous myself ^^'
