@yellow so, you can find the right bitrates for yourself with a technique known as abx testing
i actually ended up doing this when i decided on the bitrate i prefer and i'm not just blindly trusting their numbers
it's worth looking at if you do want to find the ideal codec/bitrate, as you can basically eliminate placebo and find the ideal bitrate in optimal conditions
and like, if you keep the lossless files around, it's ok if the encode isn't optimal, one can reencode and the only thing really lost is time
