@Paradox i suppose that nuance, those social expectations, the tact
that's sort of what i was getting at with the "working to change yourself for the better"

really it's the "make" part of the phrase that bothers me so
it kinda implies forcing another into something
which, i feel, especially in the context of long term relationships (be it friends, partners or even coworkers) really isn't something to be doing..

it's honestly quite hard to put myself back in the headspace i was in while writing that out, as i was doing my best to first pass write without thinking about it too hard....
really more about the vibes of it, than the words themselves..
